The Heartbreakers: Single Farmers

    It's always heartbreaking when you got something you really love while knowing that it will be gone in the near future. This project is about that particular feeling. Same goes with coffee, sometimes you have coffee that you really love, something that you hope can last forever, but face the reality, it's unlikely to happen.
    This Heartbreakers project is specifically about coffee that will not last forever. Maybe it's about its certain climate that only happen that year, maybe its certain post-process that yields unique flavour, or maybe it's available only in small quantity per year because it comes from micro-lot, anyway it's all about the scarcity of the coffee.
    The first project of Heatrbreakers is about single farmer. We found two coffee that has the same concept: produced by single farmer in lot that is small enough to be called micro-lot. These coffee are produced by only one farmer so that it produces consistent and intense flavour unique of its own lot. Unfortunately, these kind of coffee will not be always available and maybe will not be available anymore.

Planted in close proximity with Ethiopian Banana in Bulle Woreda, this beautiful coffee comes directly from the hand of Fatene Balesi. He's a dedicated and passionate farmer that's been in coffee industry since he was young, inheriting land from his father.
This coffee has special sweetness that resembles Plum, Strawberry, Cotton Candy and Brown Sugar. In addition, citrus flavour like Orange and excellent fragrance like Jasmine are also apparent in this coffee. This coffee is a very good example of high quality sweet Ethiopian coffee.

Kedir Bali is a pioneer Ethiopian coffee farmer that focuses on quality instead of quantity. He has taught numerous farmer to process their coffee so it can be sold as a specialty grade. This aromatic coffee only available in total of 35 bags per year and we are one of the luckiest to get it. Although not many, we believe this coffee can break your heart because it will not be available in the near future.
Coffee that came directly from one farmer that really knows how to process it usually has a lot of complexity in it. This coffee is no exception. It has a very complex aroma and flavour. In aroma we found Lavender, Black Tea and Earl Grey that even can be smelled from far away. Meanwhile, in flavour, we found delicate citrus like Lime Juice, sweetness of Chocolate and texture of Creamy Yoghurt. This coffee is a very good example of high quality aromatic Ethiopian coffee.
